During his reign, Ahmose I (Amosis) completed the conquest of Lower Egypt and the expulsion of the Hicsos from the Nile Delta, restoring the Thebes government over the entire territory of Egypt. He also restored Egyptian power over the territories of Nubia and Canaan. Then he reorganized the administration of the country, reopened quarries, mines and trade routes, beginning large construction projects of a type that had not been addressed since the time of the Middle Kingdom. The reign of Amosis laid the foundations of the creation of the New Empire, in which the Egyptian power reached its peak.
