Throughout history, knots have been used by writers, printers and artists in drawings and in the illustration of books and as signs or passwords of famous painters and sketchers, such as the Italian painter and sculptor Leonardo Da. Vinci (1452-1519) and that of the German engraver painter Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528).
